Not electronical but still looks really good. gt3 style pull straps
I started showing this with the panels off. if you never have done that, contact me and i can walk you though.
this was a really simple project. i was planning to do a whole flat panel but with all the geometry of the door decided to stick with the stock panel
very simple.... nylon strap, cable crimps, extra cable and a U shaped mini pulley is all that is needed.
here is the full function design.
subaru has enough space behind their door handle assembly to dremel out a channel for the wire to run through.
1 pin holds in the stock door handle and lock, remove those.
once removed you'll be able to 3d print a cover for that spot and make the part able to snap in to the existing pin holes (top and bottom)
you'll also have to cut out a spot for the strap to pass through
here is the slit for the strap to pass through. make sure the strap easily moves through it, no resistance should be noticed
when putting the door panel back on, make sure the wire is free to move and not pinched. snap the stock cable mount back into the handle assemble and feed the strap through as you put it on with your third hand. it's tricky..
i still have to print the cap, but this is the overall result.
i like it, i think ill install a little longer strap, this was a 4.75" which looks great but hard to finger (giggity) when you reaching for it...
