The Bozzetto F1 style steering wheel is a universal design. using can-bus this wheel will have functional knobs and displays.

step one to any design is a sketch and mock up of what the design should look like.
once drawn out, its time to go Neanderthal on it to cut it out to a general size.
at this point, i test fit the wheel noting the size and placement in comparison to a real steering wheel.
once arts and crafts is over and your happy with the overall design it needs to be designed on cad for 3d printing.
v1 has turned out great, small changes need to be made which will be made on v2.
for now this design will function as a base

here we have the overall design for its function. i am not sure if i'm going to reuse the function for the wrx's cruise and radio although the switches would have to be moved and that's it.
on this design, ill have the rpm/gear display along with slow car flashers, horn, dimmer, exhaust valve setting, and active aero options.
The available stock clock spring pins will determine what is able to be used.
overall look of the displays. gear display on the top, bottom display will be the speed, active aero settings and exhaust valve setting.
